18:10 - Horses for Courses – Leveraging cloud-based coordination platforms: Simon Gibbs (WSP)

Synopsis
Navisworks, Revizto, ACC Model Coordination, Bentley iTwin, other? The construction industry is rife with both competition and perceived walled gardens when it comes to federation of models, design review, coordination and general collaboration - there are a range of tools available for use, but some are only suitable for specific project types, while others are painfully expensive. Many are familiar with one or two of these platforms, often deployment is based purely on pre-existing license pools, capital outlay costs or predisposed market sector bias, and the strengths and weaknesses of each are poorly understood. This presentation focuses on the project deployment of two collaboration platforms, their strengths, weaknesses and lessons learned.

19:00 - Drones + BIM Integration for Future-Proof Asset Management: Ben May (AECOM)

Synopsis
In complex environments such as operational airports, data capture often faces challenges of siloed and disconnected information, leading to inefficiencies in handover and rework. This webinar will explore how a streamlined approach to data management can drive significant improvements in quality and effort reduction. Using our recent work for a 10ha Airport project, we will highlight the strategic use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for 3D laser scanning and high-resolution photogrammetry, enabling the creation of precise data models for comprehensive desktop evaluations. Learn how AECOM’s innovative approach to integrating Survey, BIM, GIS, and Asset Management tools delivered a successful project outcome for a critical asset.

Speaker Bio: Ben May, Technical Director – Digital Lead, Buildings + Places ANZ
Ben brings 23 years of experience both locally and internationally leading the delivery of projects across the built environment sector. An early adopter of BIM within Australia, he has worked exclusively with Revit and Building Information Modelling (BIM) since 2006. His BIM & Digital experience includes implementing and managing Digital workflows to combine process, technology and people to maximize project outcomes.
