18:10 - Information Handover from Design to Construction : Chris Rossetto (Hansen Yuncken)

Synopsis
The transition of building information from design consultants to the contractor can often be a disjointed anonymous interaction, particularly around BIM models & processes. This session will provide an overview of how Hansen Yuncken works closely with consultants & subcontractors to make BIM models a primary, valuable deliverable from design into construction, and ensure models remain visible and accessible throughout construction & handover. The talk will provide an introduction on how to better work with contractors or become a BIM-focused contractor for the benefit of the wider team.

Speaker Bio
Seeking better ways to execute design and delivery through the use of technology, Chris has over 10 years’ experience working as a BIM Manager in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, New Zealand and Australia. With a background in architecture, Chris has worked with globally renowned architects OMA and Grimshaw, and has recently transitioned into a construction focus with Hansen Yuncken who are leaders in the adoption of Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) technology. Learning through complex delivery projects including Melbourne Metro Tunnel, Auckland City Rail Link, Marvel Stadium and Brisbane’s Neville Bonner Bridge, Chris has led strategic approaches to BIM execution, task automation, complex geometry, coordination, and data management. Chris’ primary motivation for promoting technology is helping others to work smart, reduce stress and achieve work-life balance in the AEC industry.

18:35 - Enhancing Asset Management with the Hobart Rivulet : Mina Jahanshahi (Veris)

Synopsis
The Hobart Rivulet Digital Twin project, revolutionized asset management for a major stormwater asset in the heart of the city. Overcoming challenging access conditions, the project utilized data capture, 3D visualisation, and GIS analysis to develop a comprehensive digital twin platform. The innovative integration of 2D and 3D solutions, QR codes for asset identification, and real-time data updates showcased the application of spatial information and methodology in a non-spatial context. This project delivered ongoing benefits, including enhanced defect monitoring, improved safety, and powerful modelling capabilities.

Speaker Bio
Mina Jahanshahi is an accomplished spatial professional with a decade of experience in the GIS consulting industry. As the Digital and Spatial Section Lead at Veris, she has demonstrated expertise in delivering high-quality spatial solutions and driving innovative projects. With a passion for applying spatial principles to water-related projects, Mina has successfully led large-scale integrated water management initiatives, while also excelling in smaller-scale projects such as Water Sensitive Urban Design and capacity monitoring. Her exceptional leadership skills and technical proficiency have contributed to the growth and success of her teams, ensuring the achievement of project goals.

19:00 - VT Digital Engineering Transformation Program : Bassem Assad (Dept. of Transport & Planning)

Synopsis
Bassem’s presentation will give an overview of the Victorian Transport Digital Engineering Transformation Program. The Program is a joint Venture between Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA) to establish the DE capability, processes, and systems within the Department of Transport that allows the department to receive, host and benefit from the rich Digital Engineering Data produced during Delivery stage for the Asset Operations & Management and Planning Phases. The program is also looking at establishing consistent standards and processes across Big Build Projects to ensure the consistency of the data received by the department and ensure the Digital Engineering benefits is delivered by the whole of Victorian Transport.

Speaker Bio
Bassem is an Architect with 23 years’ experience in the field, and a Digital Engineering Manager with 17 years’ experience of using and implementing BIM and Digital Engineering. Bassem has special interest in using and implementing Digital Engineering and BIM Processes.
In the last 17 years, Bassem has implemented Digital Engineering and BIM across multiple multi-disciplinary firms and assisted a lot of firms through their Digital Transformation journeys.
Bassem has recently joined the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) as the Digital Engineering Lead, leading the promotion and development of digital engineering in parallel with the development of digital engineering across the broader transport portfolio, and presents the department in wider government and industry digital engineering forums. He collaboratively works across the Department of Transport and external stakeholders to ensure the coordinated and logical adoption of digital Engineering.
